Each year, billions of gallons of wastewater are produced by the textile manufacturing sector. Chemical dyes and water repellency are rinsed onto textiles during traditional textile dyeing and finishing. Post-production toxic water is then dumped into rivers and oceans.

In their plants in Vietnam, Golden Long John, a significant textile supplier to the worldwide footwear industry, installed GTT’s EMPEL® finishing platform last year. As a result of their collaboration, two market-leading technologies have been combined: the EMPEL® high performance water-repellent coating and the direct dye method used by Golden Long John.
