Public Stakeholder Consultation: Transitioning REEL Codes to REEL Standards
CottonConnect is proposing the transition of the REEL Cotton Code of Conduct 3.1 to the REEL Cotton Standard 1.0, and the REEL Regenerative Code of Conduct 1.1 to the REEL Regenerative Standard 1.0.

In 2016, the REEL Cotton Code was developed and launched to promote sustainable cotton production practices. In 2021, in response to the growing interest in regenerative agriculture, CottonConnect introduced the REEL Regenerative Code. Now, we are taking the next step in formalizing these commitments by transitioning both codes into recognized sustainability standards that include certification options.

Why the Transition?

The move from private codes of conduct to formal standards will enhance transparency, accountability, and global alignment, following guidelines from ISO, the ISEAL Code of Good Practice, the Textile Exchange PFMM, and Unified Standards Requirements.

You can download the draft versions of the REEL Cotton Standard 1.0 and the REEL Regenerative Standard 1.0. We encourage all stakeholders to review the proposed standards and provide feedback during this consultation phase.

Your insights are invaluable in shaping these standards to ensure they effectively promote sustainability and regenerative practices in cotton production.
